PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

Exploration, Excitement, Experiences. They're what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don't have to be “advanced” to take it – it's designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course. The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your Aquatic World PADI Instructor. This course builds on what you've learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving. 

 

You'll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

  • Underwater navigation
  • Deeper water diving  (typically anywhere from 18-30 metres/ 60-100 feet)
  • A sampler of three more Adventure Dives

One reason you'll love the Advanced Open Water Diver course is that your Aquatic World PADI instructor will introduce you to some exciting Adventure Dives including the Underwater Navigation adventure, Deep Water adventure and a selection of three other adventure dives like Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diving, Boat Diving, Night Diving, Search & Recovery Diving and more!

Prerequisites

To take this course, you must be:

  • A PADI Open Water Diver  (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
  • Review the Medical questionnaire (pdf), and obtain a physicians approval on the attached form, if required


What You Learn

The knowledge and skills you get in the Advanced Open Water Diver course vary with your interest and the adventures you have, but include:

  • Practical aspects of deep diving
  • Physiological effects of deeper scuba diving.
  • More ways to use your underwater compass
  • How to navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time
  • How to better use your dive computer and electronic Recreational Dive PlannerTM (eRDPTM)
  • And much, much more, depending on the Adventure Dives offered in the course you elect to take


The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all the basic scuba gear including your underwater compass. Depending on which three additional adventure dives are included in the Aquatic World course you select, you may also try out underwater photography equipment , a dive light, lift bags, a dive flag/float or other specialty gear. Scuba gear and accessories for adventure dives are not included in the Aquatic World Advanced Open Water Course fees, therefore rentals fee's may apply. Availability of rental scuba equipment will vary during the busy dive season. Check with Aquatic World in advance, or better yet let us help you select the right equipment and accessories to meet your diving needs!


The Learning Materials You Need

PADI's Adventures in Diving Manual and DVD provide information on more than 16 types of specialty diving.You'll use them as a guidebook to improve your diving skills and prepare for new experiences and adventures.

Dive the cool, clear water of the Thousand Islands while you gain experience in Naigation, Buoyance control, Deep, Search & Recovery and wreck diving.
